The bassist Mads Vinding ties the quartet together with his confident style. Vinding has played with all of the legends of jazz, and is often mentioned as the musical heir of late NHØP. The pianist and composer Carsten Dahl takes the keys. His play is, as always, playful and technically skilled. Carsten Dahl is a highly productive musicians, but his work never lacks quality – instead, his piano is rich with experience. Above all soars the unique voice of Margrete Grarup. She manages to balance force and delicacy and always retains a certain humility even when her powerful voice is at its most expressive. Niclas Campagnol plays the drums, a recent addition to the original group. A regular on the Danish jazz stage, he easily complements the others with cool and understated rhythm. The mood is audibly lively, and the musicians clearly long to entertain as they invite the audience along on the journey.

Beautiful music: it swings, with stateliness usually reserved for Duke or 20th century Classical. Highly recommended Anything goes New song How deep is the ocean Everything happens to me I can't get started Someday my prince will come Pretty Song Time On My Hands Nobody Knows

with Mads Vinding & Peter Rosendal. FOLK MEETS JAZZ… The winner of the Danish Music Award 2001 Folk: · The Folk Album of the Year · The CD of the Year - contemporary · The Instrumentalist of the Year (Peter Uhrbrand) Originally formed as a trio in 1998. Peter Uhrbrand, Sonnich Lydom and Sèamus Cahill has now been joined by two outstanding jazz musicians Mads Vinding (bass) & Peter Rosendal (piano) in what can only be described as a rare meeting of musical genres, that of folk and jazz. While the idea of jazz improvisations using traditional material is certainly not new, what makes this CD rather special is that you have both folk and jazz musicians endeavouring to bridge the gap between genres. In a sense Spring is not only a meeting of different musical styles, but also a meeting of the great traditions of Nordic and Celtic music. One of the band members is an Irishman now settled in Denmark and so it seemed natural that songs from the Irish tradition should also be included on this CD.

Uanset genre." Thorbjørn Sjøgren, Folk & Musik.
