Villén-Vinding-Tophøj
World-renowned jazz bassist, soloist flute player and seasoned folk-player. A concert with Danish hymns, folk music from Sweden, Ireland and Denmark. We meet Jazz bassist Mads Vinding, Flutist Linnéa Villén and “Artist of the Year” nominated folk music violinist Andreas Tophøj. Each of the three musicians is highly respected:
Mads Vinding has a career as a professional bassist since he was 16 years old and has more than 800 recordings behind him. Mads has played with big names like Herbie Hancock and Dizzy Gillespie.
Linnéa Villén completed the soloist class in the Copenhagen Conservatory in 2014 with a high-performance debut concert with poems and films in the background. She is a widely used chamber and orchestral musician in a.m.o. the wind quintet Opus Zoo, the Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Symphony Orchestra.
Andreas Tophøj has become one of the most prominent violinists in the Danish folk music scene, which has become the musical highway through which Andreas moves. In 2015, Andreas won the personal honors to be nominated as “The Artist of the Year” at the Danish Music Award Folk, and with the band ZAR he has won the award “The Danish Album 2009”. The duo Andreas Tophøj and Rune Barslund received the 2012 “Track of the Year” award for the tune “The Danish Immigrant”. _________________________________________________________________
“The seasoned Danish jazz bassist is the guarantee of elegant, virtuoso and tasteful music. However, this virtuosity is not reflected in superfluous frills but in sophistications that support the elegant and tasteful. With his superior technique he is literally the instrumental foundation for an unusual trio …. …Everything converged into a meaningful and welcome musical expression on a high level because all three are musicians with a broad horizon and because they are instrumentalists to their fingertips. Come Danish hymn songs in a simple and expressive arrangement or Swedish folk music with wooden shoes, each musician brought in his specialities … .. … ..
You can play fine classical music, advanced jazz or folk music. But are you a real “fiddler”? Because this is crucial in all cases. And this is what these three beautiful musicians are.
